The countdown has officially begun.

Today marks seven days until Election Day and so far 500,000 Garden State residents have voted.

According to SmartTarget, New Jersey has 584,116 registered voters who have already returned their absentee ballots for the 2024 election, scheduled for Tuesday, November 5.

The Democratic political data and data services company released its NJ Statewide 2024 Early & Absentee Vote report to TargetEarly – a dashboard examining early in-person and absentee voting. The process involves collecting daily early voter feedback from every state and county election office in the U.S. and analyzing the information by political affiliation and type of vote.

The report outlined which political party has conducted the most postal votes so far. And there's also a breakdown by county in each state.

Of the 584,116 mail-in ballots returned statewide, 357,339 (61.2%) are Democrats; 120,540 (20.6%) are Republican; 104,089 (17.8%) are unaffiliated and 2,148 (0.4%) are other.

Below you will find the numbers requested by district. These numbers are based on early voting for states with 1,000 votes.

Monmouth County mail-in ballots

Of the absentee ballots returned statewide, 39,611 came from Monmouth County. Of those, 20,979 (53.0%) went to the Democratic Party, 9,803 (24.7%) went to the Republican Party, and 8,699 (22.0%) are unaffiliated.

Ocean County mail-in ballots

Of the absentee ballots returned statewide, 40,799 are from Ocean County. Of these, 17,555 (43.0%) went to the Democratic Party, 14,909 (36.5%) went to the Republican Party and 8,171 (20.0%) are not affiliated with either party.

Voting by postal vote

Voting by mail is one way to cast your vote. New Jersey has three options. Ballots must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, November 5th at 8:00 p.m. Absentee ballots may also be dropped off no later than 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, in a secure ballot drop box or in person at Board of Elections offices in the county or place of residence (six days after the polls close) on or before Monday, November 11 .
